How might we harness the power of AI to address Deutsche Bank's urgent need to increase efficiency, productivity and transparency across internal functions?

Each year Deutsche Bank hosts a global hackathon, so in light of its new partnership with Google Cloud, the bank wanted to leverage cutting-edge AI technologies to tackle pressing business challenges. Over the course of a 24-hour event, we were tasked with designing, developing, and delivering a working solution that would create tangible value for Deutsche Bank employees.

01 // Our roles


Myself: I played a key role in product management, UX design as well as creating the winning pitch deck that effectively communicated the value of our solution to stakeholders.

The team: Our interdisciplinary team consisted of developers, DevOps engineers, and business analysts, all collaborating to create a streamlined third-tier architecture on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).


02 // Our approach

 

+ Research: We began by gathering personal insights into the pain points of information transparency at Deutsche Bank, recognising the unstructured and complex nature of data that delayed employee tasks.
+ Design: Based on user needs, we designed a solution that focused on adopting AI powered technologies to simplify access to information through a conversational chatbot.

+ Development: Utilising Google Cloud technologies, we built the application using Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Run, all paired with an intuitive React Native UI.
+ Deployment: We successfully deployed our application onto GCP using Google App Engine, ensuring a working live product for final presentations.

03 // The outcome


Our team finished 1st in the UK and 4th worldwide, a testament to our innovative approach and effective execution.

Our Proposal

Deutsche Bank IQ: An AI-powered chatbot that enhances employee access to information by supplementing large language models with internal bank data. We prioritided data protection and created a solution that retains all intellectual property while maintaining full security of the bank's data.
